1. Introduce Yourself!

Please tell us a few things about you --
1. Name & Location
2. Organization
3. Position in your Organization
4. What area you would consider your expertise and could help as a subject matter expert to your classmates
5. What is your learning style in terms of Entrepreneurial, Collaborative, and/or Systematic
6.  What is your processing style in terms of Audial, Visual, Kinesthetic
7.  What do you like to do when you are procrastinating?
8.  One fun fact that might connect you with others in the course, i.e. love Argentine Tango, a fan of Denver Broncos, pet lover with a pitbull.
I'll go first.  I am your instructor Sue Radwan, based in Grand Ledge, Michigan, in the Eastern Time Zone.  I am the owner of Leading Edge Mentoring, a governance and leadership consulting firm with an international scope of practice. I have been preparing more than 100 CAE Candidates per year since 1996!  I have personally prepared more than 1/3 of all the current CAEs .
I hold considerable expertise in governance process, certification, and  professional development.  I am the Immediate Past President of the International Association for Strategy Professionals and the current Chair of their Certification Commission.
My style is entrepreneurial...give me the assignment and I'll run with it in my own time and schedule.
I am generally a visual processor, however, until 10 am I am more of an audial processor.  My kinesthetic nature comes through my piano and vocal renderings.
If I am procrastinating, it will be on Facebook scrolling.
Fun fact: I live in a home built in 1857 with an 1869 and a 1967 addition...that was condemned post World War II.
From 2005-2009, I prepared CAE Candidates in the Middle East under a contract with USAID.

Your turn!

Hi everyone! My name is Makayla Buchanan and I am the Director of Engagement & Partnerships at the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations. However, I currently live and work remotely from Savannah, GA as my husband is in the Army. Having held previous positions as President/CEO of a local education foundation and lobbyist in Florida, my expertise includes development and marketing as well as government affairs.

I have a entrepreneurial/systematic learning style likely stemming from taking so many online classes for my Master's and Doctorate. I do most of my processing via audio so I've had to adapt, but I really enjoy having the opportunity to learn through a hands-on approach.

When I'm procrastinating, I like to walk my dog or go for a peloton ride. One fun fact about me is that I love sports (DUUUVAL) and travel!

Hi! Michelle Turenne (ter-EN).  I'm Chief, Strategic Alliances at the American Thoracic Society (501c3 in pulmonary and critical care medicine). I lead the teams that do Exhibits/Sponsorships, Grants, and Corporate Membership. I'm the lead for all industry engagement, patient groups engagement, as well as personal and planned giving. I'm good at contracts, governance, executive leadership and operations.

I am a visual learner, and very collaborative. I like flashcards but found the MSAE cards difficult to use. Looking forward to learning how to best use them. I took the December 2023 exam and missed by five points.

When I'm on procrastinating, I'm checking Facebook, cooking or watching Tournament of Champions, or researching companies on LinkedIn. I'm a big Harry Potter Geek. I have a shih tzu named Max and built my Golden Girls house during COVID. I live with my ride or die, Meg.
